Information Technology (IT) Specialist, GS-2210-12/13

The working title for this position is an Information Technology Officer. As an Information Technology Officer, you will perform the following duties:
Provide application and program support to forecasters and staff by performing installation, configuration and software maintenance of existing application programs. Manage the implementation of projects relating to the Region's software, hardware, networks, and other IT systems. Provide quality assessment and assurance for the operation of IT services and programs and identify best practices and service improvement initiatives in support of systems. Oversee the technical staff working on projects, assign tasks and ensure work is on schedule and within budget. Advise the Meteorologist in Charge on IT use and considerations affecting the budget and resources. These duties are described at the full performance level (FPL) GS-13, the GS-12 is developmental leading to such performance. For all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience (which may be may be obtained by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate) demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

Experience:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
