Covia is looking for a dynamic Quality and Environmental Superintendent who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Calera, AL location. As a Quality and Environmental Superintendent, you will direct the Quality and Safety functions at the Calera plants.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Administer the Calera Plant Quality Control (QC) Manual and the Quality Improvement Program to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain the Plant's copy of the Covia QIP Manual, and ensure corresponding updates of the Plant Specific QC Manual and Laboratory Procedures.
  • Coordinate the Site Specific Quality Control Manual.
  • Act as coordinator of the plant specific Quality Control Manual
  • Act as coordinator of the plant specific Continuous Improvement Plan
  • Collaborate with the Plant Steering Team in preparing the Annual Process Assessment..
  • Ensure appropriate interface between Quality Control and Production / Shipping Departments.
  • Supervise and direct activities of the QC Technicians. Ensure that quality standards, policies, and procedures are maintained.
  • Be responsible for quality and quantity of work performed by subordinates.
  • Provide quality control reports and summaries and charts for internal and external customers as requested
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Plant Manager.
  • Direct and oversee training, safety and health, housekeeping, and labor relations in the QC department. Act as the QC natural team leader.
  • Prepare and send routine and/or requested samples to appropriate Covia Laboratory, obtain and send samples as requested for customers.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained properly.
  • Act as custodian of plant specific Laboratory Procedures Manual.
  • Act as plant Radiation Safety Officer, maintaining the radiation safety program.
  • Act as plant liaison and maintain communications with Covia Environmental Affairs.
  • Administer environmental compliance procedures, including SPCC, Title V, and Covia environmental policies/procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all State and Federal environmental regulations and permits.
  • Maintain environmental compliance records, including Covia internal action management program (SAM).
  • Prepare non-compliance reports for environmental agencies
  • Ensure all required reports are filed promptly with environmental agencies
  • Serve as a member of the plant's steering team.
  • Interface with management team in recruitment, interviewing, orientation, and training of new employees.
  • Perform environmental monitoring as required.
  • Serve as member of project teams as assigned.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
